• Meet your in-country representative at the airport before setting out on this unique Malagasy adventure.
  • Please be aware that your driver will be waiting for you at the International Arrival gate.
  • An airport sign with your name should be seen and you may have to look for a logo if the airport gets overcrowded. If you cannot locate your driver please remain calm and approach the Airport Welcome Service.
  •  An announcement intended for your driver can be broadcasted there, and this will then become the rally point. In the case of an emergency or you cannot locate your driver, the emergency contact details are on your documents and you should call the mentioned numbers before attempting to leave the airport. 
  • You will be given your welcome package including maps and more, then be transferred to your hotel.

  • Today we enjoy the drive to Analamazaotra Special Reserve through the Madagascar highlands. The reserve was named after the river which traverses it. Late this afternoon, we will have the first of several nature walks in the region.

  • Today, enjoy a visit to Mantadia National Park to discover the fauna and flora in the eastern tropical rainforest. The park is included among the remaining corridor forest classified as a world heritage of UNESCO.
  • It makes the forest interesting in terms of biodiversity with its amphibians, lemurs, etc. There will be a picnic lunch in the forest.
  • Enjoy the afternoon with a small visit to a private park of Vakona Forest Lodge followed by a nocturnal visit. Spend the night at the hotel (half board).

  • After breakfast, there will be a morning visit to the special reserve of Analamazaotra known for its famous lemurs (indri) and also other many species of fauna and flora treasure typical of the island in the eastern region. It includes the famous plant named orchids.
  • After the visit, you will go back to the lodge for lunch and then back to the capital. On arrival, you will be transferred to a hotel.

  • After the breakfast we will drive to Maevatanana where is the city nested at the bottom of basin, resulting in an oppressively hot climate.
  • After lunch, we head straight western to reach Ankarafantsika through the dry deciduous forest with great number of birds.
  • Arrival at Ankarafantsika we will check your hotel.
  •  Dinner and overnight at Gite d’Ampijoroa.


  • Excursion in the Forest station in the natural reserve of Ankarafantsika, which contains the fully protected example of dry western forest in Madagascar, and the 70 species of the reptiles.
  • It is a home for eight lemur species including Coquerel’s sifaka, brown lemur and four nocturnal: sportive, woolly, grey mouse and fat-tailed lemur.
  •  It is also the best place for the bird- watchers.
  • Nocturnal visit is starting to find the tiny lemur.
  • Dinner and overnight at Gite d’Ampijoroa.


  • After another morning exploring the forest, we will drive to Antsohihy , a transport hub where all the local products including seafood, chromites, and wood pass through.. Along the way we will pass through Sofia River up to the Pont Sofia, one of the longest bridges in Madagascar. Then we will reach Port-Bergé, a small city located in the banks of the Bemarivo River, known for its cotton and groundnut plantations.

  • Early morning departure to three of Madagascar’s most colourful bays including the Bay of Sand Dunes and Pigeons Bay, whilst bearing witness to the stretch of magnificent white sand beaches of this tropical coast.
  •  En route stop for a visit at Ambodimanga forest trying to find the very rare blue eyed black lemurs.
  • Stop in Ambanja for lunch then continue to Diego Suarez.
  • Dinner and overnight at Hotel.


  • Picked up at your hotel according to the tide schedule, drive to Ramena (30 minutes drive), a small fishing village located 16 kilometers from Diego, for 1h30 sailing cruise before arriving on the Emerald Sea, a lagoon with crystal clear water, multicolored coral reefs and multicolored fishes and white sandy beaches. It is an all day excursion, ideal for snorkeling, sun bathing, fishing, and diving.
  • A delicious seafood meal will be prepared by the local fishermen. Farniente, then return to Ramena at the end of the day to reach the comfort of your hotel.

  • Along the coastal road, the Sugar Loaf, the endemic baobabs and the French Mountain Massif, you will discover the Bay of Sakalava and its fun boarders, the seductive Pigeons Bay, and Dunes Bay. After swimming in the Indian Ocean, you will continue to Cape Miné, where you will find old cannons inherited from the colonial era, then the lighthouse with a breathtaking view of Diego Suarez pass.
  • Then you will pass by the beach of the former Orangea military camp before arriving in Ramena, a traditional fishing village. You will succumb to the temptation of a last swim in Ramena before returning to your hotel.

  • From Diego, your guide drives you straight to Montagne d’Ambre National Park, which covers 18,200 ha of a prominent volcanic massif. Day three are spent exploring the diverse national park on nature walks.
  • Montagne d’Ambre boasts striking scenery with rainforests and waterfalls and is one of the most popular natural attractions in Madagascar. It was created in 1958 to protect the massif and the ecosystems it supports especially the region’s unique flora and fauna species. In the Montagne d’Ambre Park, you will have the chance to see seven species of lemurs, the aye-aye, the ring-tailed mongoose and a variety of reptiles including frogs, geckos and chameleons, as well as more than 70 species of birds.

  • Today we will drive to the amazing Ankarana Park, south of Diego Suarez. We walk through the limestone massif viewing the awe-inspiring karst of the ‘Little Tsingy’.
  • We will explore the « bat » cave which is home to a diverse array of bats and birds we also search for lemurs.
  • Diner and  Overnight at Ankarana Lodge or Similar.


  • The whole of today is spent in the Ankarana nature reserve, admiring the incredibly rich and varied vegetation and the abundance of wildlife found in the nature reserve.

  • This morning we will drive to the tropical port at Ankify, passing through coffee and cocoa plantations and the rustic village of Ambilobe.
  • You will cross the crystal blue waters on a short motorboat ride (approx 1 hr) leading to Nosy Be, also known as Nosy Manitra – « The Scented Island ». A soothing blend of frangipani, Ylang Ylang, vanilla and cinnamon scents are carried on the gentle breeze which brings a unique peace to the island.
  • Being one of Madagascar’s most popular destinations, Nosy Be offers visitors the chance to relax on the beautiful beaches, be adventurous and be blessed with some panoramic views from the peak of Mont Passot, experience the vibrant underwater world by snorkelling or scuba diving or just go with the flow of island life.
  • All activities are optional and at own expense.

Day 15-16 : NOSY BE

  • Enjoy taking in the tropical paradise at leisure for the next two days.
  • Excursions are offered to the smaller surrounding islands off Nosy Be, such as Nosy Komba with a chance to view the endemic black lemurs, and Nosy Tanikely which has exceptional snorkeling and scuba diving. A spice tour can be arranged or perhaps a ride into Hell-ville to visit the bustling daily market – a great place to pick up spices. (Be sure to check your home country’s quarantine laws if you intend to take any spices away with you.) Sip a sundowner at the tiny rustic bar at the top of Mont Passot, taking in the breathtaking view of the seven sacred crater lakes. Or enjoy a sail upon a catamaran under the radiant Madagascan sun. Fishing and diving trips can also be arranged, or just simply enjoy a cocktail on the beach admiring the hues of the sunset. All activities are at own expense.

  • Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Antananarivo where you can catch your onward flight, bringing this unforgettable Northern Madagascar Safari to an end.
  • Arrival in Antananarivo, we will then enjoy an afternoon guided walking tour of the old city, learning about the country’s royal history at the Rova palace complex and enjoying a view out across the city.
  • In the evening,  you will a enjoy farewelll dinner as you say goodbye and then transfer to Airport to check in your flight back home.
